Concerts,workshops and dance sessions will feature as part of this festive weekend. The finest of sean-nós dancers and musicians will be in attendance, check the website www.fonnrince.ie for more details.

Congratulations to the local community, winners of the 2012 G Team, Foras na Gaeilge competition on TG4….the celebrations are ongoing in the Glen of Aherlow and there seems to be no end in sight :-)

Also, details will be available soon of the Glen of Aherlow walking festival taking place on the June Bank Holiday weekend, A,B and C walks for every type of walker agus siúlóid amháin trí mheán na Gaeilge mar aitheantas don bua ag an cheantar áitiúil sa chomórtas teilifíse ar TG4 :-)

The two annual festivals at Tigh Roy (funded by the Arts Council, South Tipperary Development Co. and Sth Tipperary Co.Co.)are comming up on 20-22 April,2012 for ‘Fonn Rince’ the traditional sean-nós dance festival and July 27-29 for the traditional music festival ‘Éigse Eatharlaí’.
also here in the Glen of Aherlow, we are in full flight planning our Winter Walking Fest, Jan 27-29. It draws large numbers, so don’t forget to book your accomodation early, and of course if you miss that one, you can come back for the Summer Walking Fest on the June Bank Holiday Weekend:-)

This weekend Oct 14-16 will also see the second ‘Tipperary Dance Platform ‘, a festival of contemporary dance performances, film and workshops, all taking part in the Excel Centre, Tipperary Town.

The weekly Irish language conversation group An Ciorcal Comhrá meet at Tigh Roy,Ionad Cultúrtha every Tues.at 9.pm. Fáilte roimh gach éinne.

Finally, the local community will get the results of their participation in the TG4 reality television programme ‘G-Team’ on Sun 16th. The programme will be on your TV screens later this winter.

Lots of great activities planned for the weekend :-)

Starting next week at Tigh Roy,the weekly Irish language conversation group, every Tues night 9pm i gcóir daoine a bhfuil suim acu Gaeilge a labhairt.

Wed Oct 5th ,7pm.will see the start of the 8 week sean-nós dance course at Tigh Roy, you can contact Roy on 087-2572281 to book a place. Limited no of places, so book now.

Tigh Roy, Ionad Cultúrtha is participating with the local community in the reality television competion called G-Team, to be screened later in the Autumn on TG4. We have suceeded in getting through to the 3rd round. Out of the original 13 communities around Ireland, there is now only 3 communities left in the competition,we being one of them, so on we go to the next round!!!

Coming up shortly we have the Clonbeg Pattern July 17-19 , with its beautiful exhibition of crafts, set in the exquisite church of Ireland here in Clonbeg. Also on the 15th is the ‘Moonlight Walk’ , a walk in the Galtee mountains for women and all proceeds goes to the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation. The 6th traditional Irish Summer School, Éigse Eatharlaí featuring the best of trad Irish musicians, singers and dancers will take place July 22-24.
