I hope you enjoy this new CD. It is a collection of traditional Irish music on Flute, Harp, Bodhrán and Tin Whistle. The CD also contains sean-nós singing (traditional unaccompanied singing in the Irish language), and Poetry. We recorded the CD live at  , Ionad Cultúir Gaelach / Centre for Irish Culture in the Glen of Aherlow, Co. Tipperary.  I wanted to place the artists in a totally natural setting so as to produce a more natural quality of sound.  All the artists enjoyed performing in this informal and relaxed setting, and felt it added greatly to their performances.  Bain sult as!

Musician and Dancer, Roy Galvin, director of  , is well known for his many RTE television appearances and radio chat shows. As an Irish language speaker he is a frequent contributor to both Raidió na Gaelteachta and TG4. In fact, Roy was the first non-Gaeltach musician to play on Raidió na Gaelteachta when it was first launched in 1972, having won the All-Ireland tin whistle championship the previous year. Since then, Roy has added the uileann pipes and flute to the instruments he now plays. Roy has toured North America and Canada, including performances at Carnegie Hall, New York, and the Kennedy Centre, Washington.  Also, Roy has played traditional Irish music in Bermuda on several occasions. Apart from being an accomplished Irish solo dancer and set dancer, Roy has danced professionally with both the Irish Ballet Company and Dublin City Ballet and more recently was ballet master with Irish Modern Dance Theatre.

Cormac de Barra comes from a family steeped in Irish traditional music and song. He first studied Irish Harp with his grandmother, Róisín Ní Shé, in Dublin before travelling to the USA to study classical harp in New York. He won the All Ireland harp competition at the Feis Ceoil in 1990 and has represented Ireland on many stages around the world since then, both as a solo performer and with other musicians and singers. back

Áine Uí Cheallaigh is widely acknowledged as one of our finest singers of sean-nós. In 1990 she won Comórtas na mBan at An tOireachtas and also the Corn Uí Riada, the most prostigious award for sean-nós singing in Ireland. In 1992 she repeated this remarkable achievement winning the Corn Uí Riada for a second time . Áine's appearances in shows and at festivals include, The Barbican Festival of Irish Music, London,1999., Riverdance, The Show. The Point Theatre, Dublin 1995. Her solo album Idir Dhá Chomhairle/In two Minds was recorded in 1992. back

Born in Cork in 1953, Theo Dorgan is a poet, editor, broadcaster and scriptwriter. He has published a number of poetry pamphlets as well as two collections of poems - The Ordinary House of Love (1991), Rosa Mundi (1995) - and his latest publication in book form is the long poem Sappho's Daughter (1998). He is co-editor of The Great Book of Ireland, and of Revising the Rising , and editor of Irish Poetry Since Kavanagh. He presents the RTE television books programme Imprint, and an interview series for LYRIC FM, The Invisible Thread. He lives in Dublin where he is director of Poetry Ireland / éigse éireann. back

Apart from his wonderful contribution to this CD of fine Bodhrán playing , Tipperary man , Liam Carey is also a champion set dancer (All-Ireland) and accordion player (Munster Fleadh Cheoil) Not only is he a talented musician and procussionist , he is also a painter/designer . At such a young age, Ciarán Ó Concheanainn is attracting wide attention for his singing in the sean-nós style. Prizes he has won to date include the Traditional Singing competition at the Pan-Celtic Festival 1999, the Irish and English under 18 competitions at the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, the Máire Nic Dhonnchadha Cup, the senior men's sean-nós competition at An tOireachtas and second place in the prestigious Corn Uí Riada. He is one of the youngest singers to have ranked so highly in Corn Uí Riada, the most prestigious of all sean-nós awards. back
